I came across two LinkedIn posts recently.
One was from a recruiter who said people keep reaching out for jobs
without first taking time to understand the company's values.
The second was a job advert for a role in Australia, and guess what? The
employer provided a direct link to their core values.
Even the NHS here in the UK will never advertise a role without
including a job description and a person specification, which
clearly outlines their values.
What does this tell you?\
Take a second and really think about it.
It tells you that values matter, not just to employers, but to you
as the applicant.
Why apply to a company whose culture and values completely clash with
yours?\
Sure, you might think, "I just need a job, I'll manage."\
But here's the truth:\
Once you start working, you'll quickly see that not everything is about
money.
If you're in the wrong environment, you may struggle to perform, lose
motivation, and feel drained. You might even start resenting the job,
and that's not a place you want to be.
So save yourself the stress.\
Before applying, spend five minutes on the company's website.\
Read their values.\
Ask yourself: "Does this align with what I stand for?"\
If it does, say so in your application. Show them you've done your
homework.
Because just like you're looking for the right employer, they're also
looking for someone who fits their culture too.
Make your application count. 🙏🏾
